Bees Need Help
It’s commonly accepted that since 2006 there has been a drastic reduction in bee colonies in North America for honey bees, bumble bees and other wild bees. The worker bees leave and do not return, this is being called Colony Collapse Disorder.
The exact reason for this problem requires more research. The most common theories on this phenomenon include;
- Use of control products in agriculture that affect bees
- Climate change
- Lack of variety of a natural variety of wildflowers caused by large urban and agricultural areas. Ultimately loss of natural habitat.
- Varroa Mites are an increasing problem that can kill entire bee colonies.
We can help by raising awareness and resources, financial or otherwise, to help fund important research and support efforts that improve bees natural habitats.
