The Season for Bees

By Chris Lesperance – Abell Pest Control Windsor Branch Manager.

This is the Season for Bees for sure .

The Bee community is all about educating about Bees, saving, and growing the bee populations in their local zones.

It’s a challenge that’s well rewarded if done correctly !!

Seeing a small nuc hive progress to thousands of Bees gives you a great feeling of satisfaction, knowing that you helped mother nature in a small way .

As the summer turns to fall the Honey harvest is underway .This year the Honey came out light gold in color with a distinct  taste of summer wildflowers. I’ve had the opportunity to sample about 15 variations of honey from this area of Ontario, and can say they are a bit like fine wine – as they all taste different !

We’re now in process to produce goldenrod honey from all the colorful plant production in the fall, and I’m happy to report that 6 hives will be closed up in November – and will be ready and waiting  to expand in the spring of 2018

Attached are a few pics of an urban garden as well as a nuc box in full work mode.
